I was born in New Orleans and grew up drinking coffee and chicory laced with evaporated milk. I like living in southern Louisiana, where the trees stay green practically all year round. The long hot summers down here appeal to me, as does the sight of Palmetto palms and cypress knees in brackish water.
I love those old costume drama movies starring Errol Flynn or Robert Taylor, with lots of sword fighting to save the damsel in distress. I also love mysteries in any form (books, movies, TV series), especially those that keep me guessing until the end. As a medieval history buff and a fan of mysteries, I like to incorporate both elements into my stories, with a little romance to make it interesting.
In the course of earning a living to raise my three children, I became acquainted with certain aspects of the law from working for civil and criminal attorneys for a long time (or maybe because of the attorneys, it just seemed like a long time). It naturally followed that the protagonist in my debut novel is a deputy sheriff whose job it is to uphold the law.
My current work-in-progress is another novel in my historical mystery series set in 13th Century Scotland featuring Deputy Sheriff Kyle Shaw.
